The Coaches: Jeff Knarr is in his 12th season (11th with a season) with the Monarchs, as he is only the second coach of King's College football since 1991. Knarr took over for Rich Mannello, who was the head coach since football was reinstated at King's in 1993. Today is the 102nd game that Knarr has been the head coach of the Monarchs. Mike Clark is in his 14th year at his alma mater, posting a 69-55 record at the helm of the Warriors. Clark has led the Warriors to a pair of MAC titles and as a player went 40-5 including an NCAA runner-up finish in 1990.

Looking at Lycoming: The Warriors started the season with a 44-10 loss at Susquehanna University before righting the ship with a 31-6 drubbing of Lebanon Valley College. Joe Guida is the team leader on the ground this far for the Warriors, gaining 96 yards while backfield mate Kyle Powell has 83 rushing yards as well. Starting quarterback Elijah Shemory has thrown for 317 yards and three touchdowns through two games, while posting the league's top passing efficiency rating. Tyjah During has a team-high seven grabs for 133 yards, while Tre' Leach has added five catches and a score. Lycoming is led defensively by Hunter Campbell and his 13 tackles and 1 sack, while Cole Senior has three tackles for loss. Ian Plankenhorn is 2-for-2 on field goal attempts, making a 36-yarder against LVC. The Warriors are 1-5 in their last six road games dating back to 2019 after going 3-3 away from Williamsport in 2018.
Red on Red: King's will be in red pants with red jerseys and gold helmets for against Lycoming Saturday. It is the traditional "All-Red" outfit for Homecoming.

Single Digit Tough:  The Monarchs award single digits based on merit, leadership and are retained throughout their time at King's, and the squad recently named two more as Single Digit players. With those two including the players named in previous years and over the off-season, King's now has seven Single Digit Tough players: Gabe Boccella (2), Brendan Mozeleski (3), Charles McCall (4), Myles Shelton (5), Elijah Demosthene (6), Tommy Gilmore (7), and Timmy Costantino (8).

Captains This Weekend: The Monarchs will send out four captains for the coin flip this weekend, as Gabe Boccella and Timmy Costantino will represent the offensive unit while Joe Carchio and Charles McCall will be the two representatives for the defense.

A Look At The Monarchs
  • The Monarchs have their largest senior class in program history this year, which is to be expected with the NCAA waiver that is allowing all student-athletes another year of elgibility after last year's missed CoVID-19 season.
  • King's currently has 22 seniors on the roster, and of those 22 players a total of 18 are listed on the team's two-deep including 13 starters.
  • The Monarchs bring back five All-MAC performers from 2019, including All-MAC first-team defensive back Elijah Demosthene and Second Teamers Gabe Boccella, Charles McCall and Myles Shelton
  • King's comes into this year's season with a total of 11 coaches on staff, and of that group four are King's graduates (Ben Bakanas, Joe Damiano, Tyler Hartranft, Andrew Zub).
  • The Monarchs allowed only 284 yards of offense to Moravian, which ranks King's fourth in the MAC in total defense coming into today.
  • The King's rushing attack has always been on of its top offensive weapons, but the Monarchs churned out only 34 yards on the ground in Week 1. That ranks King's 11th in the MAC in rushing yards per game.
  • On the other hand, Tyler Moore and company accumulated 256 yards through the air, which ranks third in the MAC in passing yards per game.
  • Senior Gabe Boccella comes into today's contest with the highest receptions per game after hauling in nine against Moravian back on September 4.
  • Timmy Costantino is second in the MAC with 98 yards receiving per game, while pulling in six catches and a touchdown in Week 1.
  • Boccella is third in average punt return, posting an average of 17.5 yards per attempt.
  • Junior defensive end Dallas Solomon is tied for the conference lead with two sacks per game.
  • The King's secondary was strong against Moravian, as three players posted a pair of pass defenses.
  • The Monarch defense is one of just two teams with Delaware Valley to not allow any points in the red zone this season.
  • King's held Moravian to just three third-down conversions in 15 attempts in Week 1.
  • Kyle Prescavage has the longest made field goal of the season in the MAC with a 43-yarder, which was the second-longest made field goal in program history.
Up Next: King's will head out on the road for the first time this season, heading to Lebanon Valley College for a 1 p.m. kick-off in Annville, PA September 25.
