WILKES-BARRE, PA (December 6, 2023) -- In just their fourth season as a varsity program, the King's College Esports team continues to add championship titles to their record books. With the Fall 2023 semester coming to a close, the King's League of Legends team secured their second consecutive fall championship title in the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) and their first in the Emergents Northeast Division.

On Tuesday, December 5, the League of Legends team, led by captain Parker Gonzales, completed their undefeated season as they collected another trophy for the Monarch Esports program. Throughout the semester, the four other starters in Krisjin Bilwin, Micah Plummer, Joshua Plummer, and Jacket Gao swept eight, best-of-three matches in which they remained unbeaten in each of their maps over the course of the season. Each team victory was met with cheers by the entire team after tights and wins as they continued their journey to another chance to compete for a championship title.

After their 2-0 win over Clark on November 29, the Monarchs kept their momentum when taking on the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets in the best-of-five championship battle. Each game began with good drafts, and the team continued their great communication seen throughout the season on dragon spawns and fights occurring around the map. Despite dropping a few team fights, the Monarchs regrouped and returned to play with adjustments and strategies needed to secure the match and the fall championship title.

This is the second consecutive fall season in which the King's League of Legends team won the NECC title, earning the 2022 Navigators Mideast Division Championship last fall with their win over Ashland University. The title is the third overall for the King's Esports team as the Overwatch team won their Emergents Northeast Division championship in the Fall 2022 semester as well.
