WILKES-BARRE, PA (November 21, 2025) -- The King's College Esports Rocket League team fell in a thrilling seven-game series, 4-3, to WVU Potomac State College in the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) Quarterfinals on Thursday at the King's Esports Arena in an intense and hard-fought matchup.
Now in its sixth season as a varsity program, the Monarchs, led by Director of Esports Adam Sebolka, Head Coach Rebekka Ricca, Assistant Coach Amy Santayana, and team captain Nicholas Brady, delivered an electrifying performance, collecting 18 goals, 13 assists, and 21 saves over the series.
 Conner Forwood (8 goals, 5 assists, 10 saves) and Jeffrey Falchek (7 goals, 1 assist, 4 saves) spearheaded the offensive charge, while Andrew Bednar (3 goals, 5 assists, 7 saves) and Brady contributed crucial plays to keep King's competitive in every game.
The Monarchs came out firing in Game 1 (5-1), with Bednar and Falchek each scoring twice and Forwood adding another, combining for 5 goals, 5 saves, and 8 shots on goal. Game 2 (1-3) was tighter, with Forwood depositing King's lone goal and the team recording multiple saves, but the Catamounts pulled out the win.
King's bounced back in Game 3 (4-1) on Falchek's hat trick and Bednar's goal, supported by 7 saves and 9 shots on goal. Game 4 (4-5) saw Falchek and Forwood each net two, but the Monarchs came up just short in overtime.
The team surged in Game 5 (6-3), with Forwood scoring 3, Falchek 2, and Bednar adding 1, while smart demos and strong rotations kept the pace in King's favor. In Game 6 (3-6), Forwood's 3 goals kept King's in the match early, though WVU Potomac pulled ahead late. The series came down to a nail-biting Game 7 (1-2), with Forwood scoring the lone goal and the Monarchs recording 5 shots and 3 saves, but ultimately were edged out in the final game by the Catamounts.
Though the series ended in a narrow defeat, the Monarchs showcased skill, teamwork, and determination that set the tone for the program's continued growth.
