WILKES-BARRE, PA (November 18, 2025) -- The King's College Esports Rocket League team is moving on to the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) Quarterfinals following their thrilling 4-1 victory over Wilkes University in a best-of-seven match-up last Thursday at the King's Esports Arena.
The Esports team is in its sixth season of operation as a varsity program and competes under the guidance of Director of Esports Adam Sebolka, Head Coach Rebekka Ricca, Assistant Coach Conlan Gilmor and team captain Nicholas Brady.
The team combined for a total of 11 goals with Conner Forwood and Jeffrey Falchek leading the charge with four apiece. Andrew Bednar registered three.
The Monarchs came out strong in the first game, tallying eight shots on goal and five saves. Forwood and Bednar both found the back of the net for a 2-0 win.
King's weathered an offensive push by Wilkes in the second game, making eight saves. The trio of Forwood, Falchek and Bednar all scored a goal to squeak out a 3-2 win over the Colonels.
In the third game Falchek and Forwood both had a pair of goals each, as King's totaled nine shots with six saves in a 4-0 win. In the fourth frame, the Monarchs lost 0-2 despite making six saves and sending five shots on goal.
The team bounced back and claimed the match with a 2-1 win in game five, with Bednar and Falchek both producing goals as the Monarchs tallied eight shots and four saves.
The Monarchs will face off against WVU Potomac State College in the NECC Quarterfinals on Thursday, November 20.
