The Coaches:
Skyler Fultz opens his first season as the head coach of the Monarchs with Saturday's contest. Fultz spent the last eight seasons in his second stint with King's, serving as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. During his time at King's, the Monarchs have turned into an offensive powerhouse, as his offensive units have produced All-MAC players at all positions while boasting record-setting units during each of his years as offensive coordinator. The 2023 campaign featured quarterback Tyler Moore's record-breaking season, setting four new career passing records and both touchdowns in a game and in a season records under the direction of Fultz. Isaac Collins is in his second season with Albright after posting an 0-10 record in 2022. His team last season saw two program records as linebacker Sam Viera became the all-time career tackles leader and Ryan Rapp set the new single-season sacks record.

Looking at Albright: The Lions are coming off two losses to top-25 programs in the D3football.com polls, falling to #8 Hardin-Simmons in week one before being toppled by the Aggies last weekend. Albright's offense has put up 409 yards of total offense while the defense is allowing an average of 44 points per game. Isaiah Shockley returns to lead the offense, totaling 105 rushing yards with a touchdown,  while the remainder of the offense has been a balanced attack. Javontae Wayman has recorded a team-best 14 tackles to lead the Lions defense.

Home Threads: As part of the homecoming tradition, the Monarchs will wear their red on red uniforms of red jerseys and red pants. As always, King's will sport their gold helmets.

Single Digit Tough: The Monarchs award single digits based on merit, leadership and are retained throughout their time at King's. The 2023 roster returned two single-digit members from last year while adding four more ahead of this season. The Monarchs now have six Single Digit Tough players: Jassiem Lettsome (0), Joe Carchio (1), Teone Sherrod (2), Tyler Carey (3), Dallas Solomon (8), and Nate McGlone (73).

Captains This Weekend: This weekend, the offensive unit will be represented at the coin toss by offensive lineman Nate McGlone and half-back Ryan McCombs. The defense will be represented by cornerback Teone Sherrod and linebacker Jake Ruppert.

A Look at the Monarchs:
  • King's will look to replace three All-MAC players in Brandon Cohen (TE), Tyler Moore (QB), and Brendan Mozeleski (LB), but return the remaining five honorees in first teamer Teone Sherrod (CB), second team honorees Tyler Carey (WR/Returner), Dallas Solomon (DL), and Joe Carchio (DB), and honorable mention recipient Amir Gibson (DB).
  • Teone Sherrod returns after a breakout campaign in 2022, earning AFCA Division III Coaches' All-America First Team, D3football.com All-America Second Team, and D3football.com All Region 1 First Team honors. Sherrod was also a Cliff Harris Award Finalist and earned a spot on the D3football.com Preseason All-America Third Team. He returns to help lead the Monarchs secondary that lead the MAC in interceptions.
  • The Monarchs have no shortage of veteran talent on this year's squad, returning nine players that were listed as seniors in 2022. This week's two-deep features 18 seniors listed, while the defense returns all but three starters from 2022.
  • King's enters the season with a total of 12 coaches on staff, and of that group five are King's graduates or so-to-be graduates. (Ben Bakanas, Brandon Cohen, Tommy Gilmore, Brendan Mozeleski, Enzo Poulson).
  • King's was picked to finish third in the MAC Preseason Coaches' Poll among the 10 conference schools. Albright was slated to finish ninth.
  • The Monarchs offense put up the second-most points through the first two weekends, second only to Widener while ranking second in both total offense and offensive efficiency.
  • The King's defense has jumped up in the rankings of the MAC, leading the conference as they are allowing just 16.5 points per game with a team-low four touchdowns. The Monarchs are also limiting teams to a conference-low 240.5 yards per game, while their rushing and passing defenses and passing defensive efficiency rank third.
  • King's was strong in their conversions, leading the MAC with 45 total first downs and tying for first in fourth down conversions, remaining a perfect 6-for-6.
  • The red zone was a high point on both sides of the ball for the Monarchs, as the offense ranked fourth in the MAC as they remain perfect at 6-for-6 and just one of two schools to post a perfect effort. The red-zone defense ranks second, holding teams to 3-for-5 in their chances.
  • Russell Minor-Shaw has finished a strong two weekends for the Monarchs offense, ranking third in the conference in total offense at 273.0 yards per game, while Jayon Hailey ranks third in all purpose yards at 116.0 yards per game.
  • Minor-Shaw ranks seventh among MAC rushers with an average of 68.5 yards per game, while Hailey has moved up to 11th at 43.0 yards per game.
  • Hailey also ranks at the top of the MAC receivers, finishing eighth after the first two weekends with 55.0 yards per game, while EJ Schreiner (11th) and Mike DiGregorio (15th) also appear in the top 20.
  • On special teams, DiGregorio stands at second among MAC punt returners at an average of 15.7 yards per return for a conference-best 94 total yards.
  • Colin Hazelton is fifth in the MAC in tackles for loss with 3.0 total tackles for loss at an average of 1.50 per game, while Jassiem Lettsome ranks seventh in sacks with 1.5 total sacks for a loss of six yards.
  • Jake Ruppert is fifth in passes defended, totaling three break ups this past weekend at Misericordia.
