Men's Outdoor Track & Field Shine at Monarch Open

WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 25, 2025) -- The King's College men's outdoor track and field team set three program records, five Monarch Open records, and four Betzler Complex records to highlight action at the Monarch Open on Friday afternoon.
 
On the Track
100 Meter Dash

Jacob Mullery won the event in 11.03 seconds, while Kreese Stablein took third in 11.91 seconds.
 
200 Meter Dash
James Holzschuh placed eighth overall in a personal best time of 24.34 seconds. Jack Pete of Susquehanna was the top finisher in 22.67 seconds.
 
400 Meter Dash
Andrew Novrocki was the top finisher in the event in a new Monarch Open and Betzler Complex record time of 48.17 seconds, while Tyler Petty placed fourth in 52.07 seconds.
 
800 Meter Run
Owen Foytack won the event in 1:57.75, while Ben Wnuk placed seventh in a personal best time of 2:04.86. John Gillespie rounded out the trio in a personal best time of 2:06.67 to take 10th overall.
 
1,500 Meter Run
Preston Klem won the event in a new Monarch Open record and personal best time of 4:08.13, while Will McCarroll crossed in 4:48.32. Logan Taylor rounded out the trio with a time of 5:02.18.
 
5,000 Meter Run
Joseph Rossi won the event in 16:41.64.
 
110 Meter Hurdles
Josh Malone finished second overall in 16.77 seconds, while Travis Lane crossed in 18.03 seconds to take third. Joseph Perriello of Stevens won the event in 16.27 seconds.
 
400 Meter Hurdles
Josh Malone placed third overall in 1:01.38. FDU-Florham's Shane Breedlove won the race in 1:01.22.
 
4x100 Meter Relay
The King's men's team of Jordan Jones, Alek Gorski, Andrew Novrocki, and Jacob Mullery finished first in a new outdoor program, Monarch Open, and Betzler Complex record time of 42.36 seconds, topping the previous time of 42.9 seconds set at the 2018 MAC Championships. The other Monarch squad of Kival Clarke, Kreese Stablein, James Holzschuh, and Josh Malone finished fourth in 45.02 seconds.
 
4x400 Meter Relay
The King's team of Jacob Mullery, Alek Gorski, Preston Klem, and Andrew Novrocki won the event in a new outdoor program, Monarch Open, and Betzler Complex record time of 3:24.43, topping the previous time of 3:26.07 set at the 2024 MAC Championships, while the other Monarch squad of Travis Lane, Owen Foytack, Tyler Petty, and Ben Wnuk took third in 3:34.70.
 
In the Field
High Jump

Travis Lane took fourth overall with a personal best height of 1.77 meters, while Philliph Oden finished with a personal best mark of 1.67 meters to place eighth. Iverson Hill of Misericordia won the event with a height of 1.85 meters.
 
Long Jump
Jordan Jones led the Monarchs as he finished third with a Monarch Open record mark of 6.50 meters, while Myles Sampson-Glass took fifth with a personal best jump of 6.31 meters. Kreese Stablein placed eighth with a personal best mark of 6.00 meters, and Kival Clarke took ninth with a jump of 5.94 meters. James Holzschuh rounded out the group with a mark of 5.71 meters. Matthieu Brunelle of Misericordia was the top finisher with a mark of 7.05 meters.
 
Triple Jump
Myles Sampson-Glass set a new outdoor program, Monarch Open, and Betzler Complex record mark and won the event with a jump of 14.09 meters, topping the previous mark of 13.54 meters set by Cody Miller at the 2024 Misericordia Invitational. Kival Clarke placed third overall with a jump of 12.66 meters, and Jordan Jones took sixth with a mark of 12.14 meters.
 
Shot Put
Carnell Kemp led eight Monarchs in the event as he placed second with a mark of 13.40 meters, while Gian Ovalles took sixth with a throw of 11.97 meters. Travis Lane placed seventh with a personal best toss of 11.65 meters, and Kaleb Beers finished eighth with a personal best mark of 11.39 meters. Joseph Schneider took ninth with a throw of 10.98 meters, and Daniel Mattey rounded out the top 10 with a toss of 10.66 meters. Brady Rutkoski posted a mark of 9.81 meters, and Khalil Blagmon recorded a throw of 9.58 meters. Susquehanna's Cole Goodwin was the top finisher with a mark of 14.95 meters.
 
Discus Throw
Carnell Kemp led King's again in third with a mark of 41.55 meters, while Josh Brown was right behind in fourth with a personal best throw of 40.44 meters. Gian Ovalles took seventh with a personal best toss of 36.09 meters, and Brady Rutkoski placed eighth with a personal best mark of 36.09 meters. Daniel Mattey recorded a personal best throw of 33.89 meters, and Joseph Schneider finished with a toss of 33.27 meters. Anthony Sabatino posted a personal best mark of 28.80 meters, and Ryan Dalton finished with a throw of 27.00 meters. FDU-Florham's Joseph Teresi won the event with a toss of 43.60 meters.
 
Javelin Throw
Tyler Bird won the event with a mark of 52.08 meters, while Gian Ovalles placed seventh with a throw of 37.73 meters. Anthony Sabatino took ninth with a personal best toss of 36.53 meters, while Brady Rutkoski finished 10th with a personal best mark of 35.81 meters. Joseph Schneider rounded out the group with a personal best throw of 34.85 meters.
 
Hammer Throw
Carnell Kemp finished second overall with a mark of 43.16 meters, while Kaleb Beers placed sixth with a throw of 36.63 meters. Brady Rutkowski took seventh with a toss of 33.95 meters, and Joseph Schneider finished eighth with a mark of 33.18 meters. Gian Ovalles cracked the top 10 with a personal best throw of 29.77 meters to place ninth, and Daniel Mattey recorded a toss of 25.11 meters. Stephen Gihr of Misericordia was the top finisher with a mark of 45.24 meters.

The Monarchs set their sights on the 2025 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships set for next weekend, May 1-3, at York College (Pa.)'s Graham Field.
