The Coaches: Jeff Knarr is in his 13th season (12th with a season) with the Monarchs, as he is only the second coach of King's College football since 1991. Knarr took over for Rich Mannello, who was the head coach since football was reinstated at King's in 1993. Today is the 121st game that Knarr has been the head coach of the Monarchs. Knarr also recently picked up his 50th career win in the Monarchs' 14-0 win over Misericordia on November 5, 2022, and he is set to lead King's in their first post-season appearance under his tenure. Peter Gallagher is wrapping up his 22nd season at Ursinus and stands as the program's all-time leader in coaching wins. This will be the third appearance in the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series in the last four years.

Looking at Ursinus: The Bears come into the weekend on a five-game win streak as they most recently defeated Dickinson, 38-14, on senior day last weekend in Collegeville, Pa. As a team, Ursinus is averaging 41.1 points per game while holding their opponents to just 18.1 points. These efforts are led by quarterback Jack Psenicska who has completed 207 passes on 346 attempts with 33 touchdowns for an average of 267.7 yard per game. He has a plethora of receivers to connect with, as Dallas Evans, Octavious Carter, and Justin Collier all average over 40 receiving yards a game. The run game is dominated by Tony Holden and his 114.33 rushing yards per contest on 121 carries with seven touchdowns. The Bears defense is led by Brett Gross with 80 total tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. Ethan Belville has posted 20 tackles for a loss of 96 yards, while Ryan Bodolus leads Ursinus with 9.5 sacks for 58 yards lost. Additionally, Ryan DiVergilis has recorded a team-high six break ups so far this season.

Final Home Threads: For their final fits of the 2022 season, the Monarchs will be taking the field on Saturday in their red jerseys with red pants and the classic gold helmet.

Single Digit Tough: The Monarchs award single digits based on merit, leadership and are retained throughout their time at King's. King's returned two single digit members from the 2021 season, added two more this past spring, and named one more to start the season. The Monarchs now have five Single Digit Tough players: Mike Karycinski (0), Joseph Carchio (1), Brendan Mozeleski (3), Dallas Solomon (8), and Brandon Cohen (9).

Captains This Weekend: King's will send out five players for the coin toss this weekend as senior Brandon Cohen and junior Tyler Carey will represent the offense, while seniors Teone Sherrod, Brendan Mozeleski, and Dallas Solomon will represent the defense.

A Look at the Monarchs:
  • King's returns a core of leaders and role players on both sides of the football in 2022. For the offense, the Monarchs return All-MAC Second Team honoree in Brandon Cohen as he ranked as one of the top tight ends in the MAC, posting 28 catches for 213 yards and two touchdowns for an average of 21.30 yards per game. The defensive unit returns All-MAC First Team selection in Brendan Mozeleski as he ranked fifth in the conference with 83 total tackles for an average of 8.3 per contest. His 1.20 tackles for loss also ranked ninth in the MAC last season.
  • The Monarchs return 28 seniors on their roster, including seven who have returned for their fifth year of collegiate eligibility. Sixteen of those 28 are listed on this week's two-deep, including 13 projected as starters.
  • King's comes into this year's season with a total of 11 coaches on staff, and of that group three are King's graduates (Ben Bakanas, Joe Damiano, Tommy Gilmore).
  • This has been a record-breaking season for the Monarchs. Tyler Moore has already set a new career passing attempts record and is on track to set several new marks after this weekend. Kyle Prescavage set a new record for field goal attempts in a career, while Teone Sherrod's 154 interception return yards is a new record for a season.
  • Last weekend, Tyler Carey set new single game records with 311 kickoff return yards on seven returns while also recording the longest return in program history at 93 yards. It was these efforts that earned Carey MAC Special Teams Player of the Week recognition.
  • Brandon Cohen was named the 2022 King's College Mayor's Cup MVP while earning a spot on the D3football.com Team of the Week with his game-high 11 catches for 94 yards with two touchdowns.
  • The MAC released its 2022 All-MAC football teams on Wednesday, and eight Monarchs were recognized for their efforts this season. Brandon Cohen and Teone Sherrod earned First Team nods, while Tyler Moore, Tyler Carey, Joseph Carchio, Brendan Mozeleski, and Dallas Solomon were voted on the Second Team. Additionally, Amir Gibson was named Honorable Mention after a strong start to his young career.
  • This is the first post-season appearance for King's under head coach Jeff Knarr, and the first time since the Monarchs competed in the ECAC Championships in 2006.
